My boys

Little man Lucas has come alive the last few days! He is looking around more and staying awake longer periods of time. He is also sleeping better which makes me very happy!

My impromptu photo session resulted in some very weird facial expressions! Lucas had no idea what to do sitting on the couch!

Colson decided it would be more fun to play in his Spaghetti O's than to eat them! I hate to say that I found tons more in his lap after taking the tray off! Needless to say, he got an extra bath!

His new favorite thing to do is to lie under the baby jungle. When he was a baby, he wanted those butterflies on that toy so bad! We say now that he's excited about being able to reach them! Colson has been starting to use sentences. It's really cool to finally know what's going on in that little head of his!

Colson's newest obsession is his monkey. He loves hugging it and taking it with him. It's cute as can be! He started doing it when I brought Lucas home from the hospital. He rocks the monkey and makes him take steps out in the yard- he even brought me a pair of Lucas' pj's to dress the monkey. Turns out that was an awesome idea! Now monkey doesn't get dirty, only his clothes which can be easily washed! Good for momma!

Colson is an excellent big brother! He was showing me Lucas nose in the pic above...... A bit off, but I'll take it! Colson is 22 months old today.

Blogging

So I've decided to start blogging regularly and I am planning on using this site for our family information. I will still update Kailee's blog, but I want that website to be just for updates on her.

A ton has happened since the last update! Colson is now 22 months old! He is very cute, of course and running around the house like a wild man! His favorite word is "ooohhh-doh!" He also thinks its hilarious to lift his leg and fart. Gee...... I wonder where he learned that! We are enjoying life with him so much!

He had an absolute blast at the pumpkin patch! He ran around pointing at the pumpkins and then decided he was more interested in the lighting machine they used at night. That kid is always trying to figure things out. Such a boy.

In other news, we have had another baby since the last update. His name is Lucas Timothy and he is a doll! He is the perfect mix of Kailee and Colson. Lucas was born at 37 weeks, 1 day weighing 8 lbs, 11oz.

He is such a sweet addition to our family. He will turn 2 months this week and is starting to come alive. He's awake longer periods of time and beginning to notice things. He has also started grinning on purpose which makes those 2am feedings a lot more bearable!

4 months

Colson is 4 months old! He is so much fun! This week was rough for us. It was my third week back to work and all of us were sick! Being sick is awful. Being sick while taking care of a sick child sucks! He's better today and I love seeing his sweet, smiley face today!

Cole has been laughing and seeking social interaction. He got his 4 month shots this week. He was 18 pounds, 5.5oz and 26 inches! Wow! He is huge!

We have been given the go ahead to start rice cereal. I have always said I would wait for 6 months, but Cole is so interested in food right now. He will watch my fork from plate to mouth! He opens his mouth and acts like he wants to eat! It's cute. We will try cereal and see how it goes.

We had our first road trip last week for Easter. Cole did pretty good, but he hates his carseat for long trips! It's hard watching him be so miserable, but I am so glad I get to hear him cry--- silly as that sounds. I am so thankful for every moment I get to see him grow!

March (April) Madness

If you know the Gerlach's, you know that we're crazy about basketball. I love watching college ball especially around tournament time. We belong to a house divided, though. Brent is crazy about Kentucky basketball and I grew up loving Kansas. I do believe Brent loves basketball more than me, though!

March has gone by quickly! It's my last full month of maternity leave. I return to work on April 11th--- something I really try not to think about. It's amazing how much I can love this needy little person. I would give anything to be able to stay home with him, but that's just not possible at this point.

Colson has come alive in the last month! It's amazing to watch him grow. I don't know if other mom's see every opportunity for learning or not, but I'm already teaching him names of things and colors. I know he doesn't retain it, but I teach it nonetheless!

Life really changes when you have a kid. I haven't had a full night of sleep since.... well, I can't remember. I was having trouble sleeping the last few months being pregnant.... maybe it's been a year now since I've slept all night.
